See yourself as a Nazareth Farm Staff

For over twenty-five years there has been a Catholic-based community of up to ten people centered on prayer and service living year-round at Nazareth Farm.  We are strongly rooted in Catholic Social Teaching.  We encourage spirit-filled people of any faith tradition to consider joining staff.

Part of our ministry focuses on working and visiting with the people of Appalachia.  We offer home repair and renovations to the people in our county and surrounding counties.  In addition to home repair we try to build relationships as well.  Many of the people with whom we work are elderly or lonely and seem to enjoy the company as much as they appreciate the repairs.

The other part of our ministry involves volunteers from all over the United States.  This year alone, we have approximately 80 groups of high school, college, and adult volunteers coming to join us in our ministry.  We sponsor approximately 23 group weeks per year with 30 to 40 volunteers each week.  When we don’t have groups at the Farm, we continue our mission of home repair as a staff.

Our lives at Nazareth Farm are based on four cornerstones: community, simplicity, prayer and service.  We do our work together.  We ask volunteers to leave behind some comforts the may be used to (radio, television, blow dryer) so that we can develop a simpler lifestyle based on open and honest communication.  We begin and end each day in prayer, in addition to praying at different times throughout the day.  We serve our community through home repair and fellowship.
